U.S. employers cut 467,000 jobs in June, far more than expected, while the unemployment rate rose to 9.5 percent, the government said on Thursday in a report that showed a labor market continuing to struggle with a deep recession.
The June job losses were more than 100,000 greater than the 363,000 consensus of Wall Street economists polled by Reuters and broke a four-month trend of moderation in job losses.

Cao Junwu is known for intrepid coverage of breaking news events such as the Sichuan earthquake and Shandong flood and for enterprise pieces on China’s computer game industry.
A reporter for the respected Southern Weekend, Cao was one of the first reporters at the scene of the 2008 Sichuan earthquake, traveling by helicopter and hiking along cliffs to reach the devastated area, which was cut of from the world. His moving blog and newspaper coverage conveyed the despair, courage and resilience of the survivors. In 2007, when a flood in Jinan, Shandong Province’s capital city, killed 34 and injured 171, Cao exposed the cause: flaws in the city’s sewer system. In another story he described how children in a remote village could get to school only by sliding along steel cables above the rushing Nu River. The public outpouring of support brought in more than $200,000, enough to build two bridges for the village.

BP consortium wins historic deal for Iraqi oil

BP-led consortium has won the rights to develop Iraq's largest oil field after an exhaustive tender process that opens the brittle state's huge gas and oil assets to foreign exploration for the first time in almost 40 years.BP and its Chinese partner CNPC clinched a deal to join an Iraqi state-owned enterprise to develop the Rumaila field in Iraq's south – the largest of the country's six giant oil sites.
Rumaila's reserves are estimated at close to 18bn barrels. Under the terms of the 20-year contract, BP and CNPC have six years to increase production at Rumaila to a minimum output target of 2.85m barrels per day.
Iraq's oil minister, Hussein al-Shahristani, said BP and CNPC had agreed to be paid $2 (£1.21) per barrel if they reached the target — significantly less than their asking price of $3.99 per barrel.

North Korea test fires three missiles朝鲜试射三枚导弹
North Korea test-fired three short-range missiles off its east coast Thursday, South Korea's Defense Ministry said.
The first two were fired about 40 minutes apart, a ministry spokesman said, according to South Korea's Yonhap news agency. It is unclear what time the third missile was launched.
A U.S. official told CNN "the missile firings come as no surprise."
"The North has been carrying out provocative acts for some time," said the official who did not want to be named for security reasons. "North Korea needs to stop this type of activity and return to the process of bringing about a denuclearization of the Korean peninsula."
