There was no celebrating in the stands after Inter Milan's Champions League qualifier on Wednesday. Inter's 1-1 draw with Shakhtar Donetsk, which gave the Italian team a 3-1 aggregate win, was played in an empty San Siro stadium because of a ruling that bars fans from Inter's first four Champions League matches. The penalty was assessed by the Union of European Football Associations after AC Milan goalkeeper Dida was hit by a flare thrown by a fan during a quarterfinal against Inter last season.
句中的"stands" means a large structure at a sports ground, usually with a sloping floor and sometimes a roof, where people either stand or sit to watch a sports event.意思是"看台"。如：Fighting broke out in the stands (= stand) five minutes before the end of the match.（比赛结束前五分钟看台上爆发了打斗。）又如：We've got the tickets for the North Stand.（我们有北看台的票。）
