生活就像打台球
期末考试快到了，同学们“活跃”起来了。有人忙着抄别人的笔记，因为他们平时经常逃课；有人费尽心机地接近老师，为了套出些考题。
大学一年级的时候，我和他们一样，学习很不认真，时或还逃课。那天我得知，一门很重要的考试没有通过。我非常沮丧，独自一人去食堂用午餐。真是很巧，电视正在播放台球比赛，围了许多男生边吃边看。为了让自己早日走出阴影，我也起劲地看起来。虽然对台球的规则一无所知，但看着看着我也悟出了些ABC。选手要通过击打一个白球而交替地把一个红球和彩球打入球洞，否则他将失去连续击球的机会，裁判会根据打入球洞的球的不同分值来计算总分。
让我吃惊的是选手们的技术都很娴熟。渐渐地，我还发现了其中的奥妙。每次击球前，选手们都要思忖一会儿。因为他们不仅要为目前白球的位置去仔细选择一个处于最佳位置的红球或彩球，还要控制白球在击打以后所处的位置，以便再次击球入洞。这该有多难啊！
领悟了这一切以后，我突然觉得生活就像打台球。如果你要赢得生活的最终胜利，你不仅要知道眼前的目标，还要知道下一个目标。
而我干了些什么？我进了大学，这就好比把一枚彩球打入了球洞，但是我的白球哪去了？我的下一枚红球在哪里？我从没考虑过。为了获得台球比赛的胜利，你必须比你的对手把更多的球打入球洞。为了获得生活的胜利，我也应该赢取更多的目标。考上大学只是人生中许许多多目标中的一个。
从那以后，我开始刻苦地学习，并像那些精明的台球选手一样，抓住当前的目标，考虑下一个目标。
Life is like Playing Snooker
As the finals near, schoolmates are very “active”. Some are immersing themselves in copying others’ notebooks, because they often play truant. Others are trying their best to approach teachers in order to find out some examination questions.
When I was a freshman, I was one of them, not serious with my study and sometimes even playing truant. One day I knew I didn’t pass an important course. Naturally, I was very depressed and went to the cafeteria alone. Fortunately, there was a snooker match on TV and many boys were watching it over lunch. In order to inspire myself and forget the bad news as soon as possible, I engrossed myself in watching the snooker match. Although I didn’t know any of the rules of snooker, I gradually understood some elementary knowledge. A contestant must alternately pocket a red ball and then a colored ball into the holes by hitting them with a white one. Otherwise he would lose the chance to continue. Finally, the referee would calculate the sum according to the different points for each ball.
To my surprise, the contestants were proficient in playing it. After a while, I found the secret. Every time before shooting, they would consider awhile. They should not only carefully select a well-positioned red ball (or colored ball) according to the white ball’s present position, but also know where the white ball would be located after it shot the other ball into the hole. Only in this way could he go on shooting. How difficult it is!
Grasping the whole, I suddenly felt that life was just like playing snooker. If you would like to succeed in your life, you must know not only your present goal, but also your next one.
However, what had I done? I entered university, just like that hitting a colored ball into the hole. But where was my white ball? Where was my next red ball? I never thought over those. To win the match, you must shoot more balls into the hole than your opponent. To succeed in life, I also should achieve more and more goals. Entering the university is just a small goal among so many ones in my life.
From then on, I studied very hard. Meanwhile, like those meticulous snooker contestants, I seize my present goal, and ponder over my next one as well.
