Welcome to the storycorp podcast, in this episode, story from Betty Jenkins..... Ohio. She is 94 years old. As a young woman, she received a gift from her mother. it was meant to attract the attention of young man, but as J told us the attention she got is not the kind she was expecting.
I was very skinny and I didn't have any curves. I just found my mother's got kind of worried because she didn't think I have enough boy friends. So she bought me a bra that you blow up. I was really excited so I blew and blew to about 32. I was quite happy **. I got a few **. the person at that age are very self concisous.
That year, I took a trip to south america, I proceeded to fly to San diego. Soonly, we were into the end east mountains, and it turned out it's a nonpressurized plane. I felt very uncomfortable and things were getting very tight. This bra had started to increase in size. as the thing got bigger I tried to stand up and I couldn't see my feet.
The direction said it would grow to 48 if I wannted to. I thought probably happened. It goes beyond 48. And I found out what happened. And it blew out. As it blew out, it brought out the sound. the ** coming into the cabnet with gun. One ** what had happened. The mens all pointed to me. it's difficult to explain to people in english that the part of your ** blew up. they were trying to do it in spanish. it's beyond the hope. So they made the landing. I was taken off the plane and turned over to two woman polices. I told it's the ** but what they thought is the bomb. ** I stripped down and I showed them the hole and the bra. They ... And I thought oh my, they got the point. I was allowed to back my plane.
The month later, I got a bill from the airline for $400 for an unschedule stop.
