Roger Federer will take on Robin Soderling in the French Open final as he bids to complete his haul of the Grand Slams.
Federer, who was completely outplayed for the first part of his semifinal against Juan Martin del Potro, came back from two sets to one down to eventually overcome the Argentinean 3/6 7/6(2) 2/6 6/1 6/4. This was Federer’s second five-set win of this tournament, this match taking three hours and 28 minutes for the Swiss to complete victory.
In the final he will play Robin Soderling, who also took five sets to book his spot in the last stage. The Swede went into a two set lead against Fernando Gonzalez, but the Chilean came storming back to level the match and take a 4-1 lead in the final set. However, the Swede fought his way back into contention taking five games in a row, moving into the final.
Tonighe, Federer will try to get his aim: complete Grand Slams.
