Mom came up to my room tonight, as a sort of follow-up visit to the heart-to-heart we had the other night. She wanted to know if I had made peace with Nikki. I hadn’t.
“Well, maybe this will alleviate her anger.” Mom pulled an envelope from behind her back.
“What’s this?” I asked, ripping it open. It had five tickets, from Indy to Ft. Myers Airport, for next week . . . spring break! “Oh, thank you, Mom!” I screeched, throwing my arms around her neck.
“The extra ticket in there is for Nikki,” she said. “And your father and I reserved a separate room for you two, to give you some time together.”
“Mom, you’re amazing,” I gushed.
Nikki has to forgive me now, right?
