Will you still drink Huiyuan juice when it is sold to Coke Cola?
In the previous topic about naming right of Bird’s Neck, I mentioned the purchasing case of Huiyuan Juice. I also listed several other similar purchasing cases. As for the Huiyuan Juice case, it was not the first case that China domestic company is sold to multinational company. I do not believe it will be the last one, neither. The fact is that when story repeats, China people gradually fade away their passion on such things and take them for granted. However, the crisis of national brands is actually not their faults. To say the least, even most of the ordinary people express their strong opinion against the purchasing case in internet or other media, what will the result be? The Huiyuan is sold to Coca-Cola all the same. Why? They are not in charge of the case. Those who have the real power to decide it may consider differently with us. They care for three things: profits, profits and profits.
After understanding this background, let us move back to the question, will you still drink Huiyuan Juice when it is sold Coca-cola? The answer for me is “No”, bacause I did not drink Huiyuan Juice at all. I would rather to eat fresh fruit to absorb more nutrients. It is my habit to keep healthy. For those who like to drink juice, they have no good excuse to give up the habit, since it is not a big deal. Can it show your patriotism to quit the Juice and vice verse? I think this kind of thought is totally ridiculous. If anyone promises to quit Huiyuan Juice after it is sold to Coca-Cola to show your patriotism, I will ask him, do you often drink Coca-Cola? Are you using the apparatus made from other others? Similarly, you should quit all of products from multinational companies. Throw away the Nike or Adidas. Never go to Mcdonald’s of KFC, saying nothing of Pizza and so on.
On the other hand, the multinational companies spread their branches in China since the China’s reform and opening up. They brought advanced technology as well as great management ideas. However, it is also a culture invasion in disguised form. Young generation in China pays less and less attention to the China’s traditional culture. They take pride in wearing famous brand such as Nike. I begin to worry about their future, and to be honest, I am one of them. Therefore, I am often confused, in what way should we treat those products or culture?
In addition, the foreign festivals such as Christmas Day and Valentine day are more and more popular in China. We accept those things while gradually losing our features, including our brands and traditions. It is time to worry about China’ s future. Being global should not conflict with the development its traditional treasure. From this aspect, to protect our domestic brands is also an imperative issue.
