1. There were many illiterate persons in old China.
2.他们新开垦的耕地面积达五千公顷。
The cultivate land they newly developed has an area of five thousand hectare.
3.最初新娘子的父母反对这桩婚事，但最终还是同意了。
The bride's parents opposed to the marriage at the beginning however agreed at last.
4.故宫总面积72万平方米，东西宽753米，南北长961米。
The imperial palace has a total area of 720 thousand square meters with its width from east to west of 753 meters and length from south to north of 961 meters.
5.他想知道他女朋友在哪里。自从他们吵架以后，他就没再见到过她。
He wonders where is his girlfriend. Since they argued with each other he no longer see her any more.
