I think many chinese use "fix/repair", and seldom use "mend"
①出口② way out ③ exit（way out在口语中是crazy的意思）
in our teaching building, there is "way out" on the every door.
①好吃② delicious ③ good/nice/tasty/appetizing（delicious在中国被滥用）
Once i heard some foreigner said delicious to praise French food in church.
①面条② noodles ③ pasta（noodles有些孩子气）
pasta is an Italian food which differs from Chinese noodles(I think).

①玩② play ③ go to/do（play在中国被滥用）

I can't agree with this text indeed.
For instance:
①大厦② mansion ③ center/plaza.
To describe a building, we shall named it as its scale.
Plaza, in my mind, it stands for shopping mall.
Center , is minior plaza.
Mansion , must be a building with less than 10 stories.
Height, must be a high building.
Estate, is a group of bulding.
Court , is minior estate.
